Latest Fashion Trendy Collection

A small fashion show by Pantaloons unveiled the latest trendy collection by Pantaloons. Designer Sanchita Ajjampur was rewarded with the award for best designers category of female and Manish Malhotra got the same for males category. Lisa Haydon was selected as the best model in India. Kalki won an award for theatres. Anisha Beg received the trophy for the best television personality. The stylist of the year was Ambika Pillai who proudly thanked by saying I know I deserved it. Model Pia Trivedi got the maximum votes for television and VJ category but couldn’t make it for the evening. Zoya Akhtar was chosen as the best director and Mridula Koshi the best writer. The most promising actor award was taken away by Sonam Kapoor and Abhay Deol respectively. Deepika Padukone was recognized as the best actor playing various roles on and off screen quite perfectly. The best Fun Fearless actress was none other than Priyanka Chopra who is apparently abroad at present.

This won’t come as a surprise when I would say King Khan was rewarded as the best actor of all time and Kareena Kapoor for the same in the female category. The last and the major one, the popular choice award went to India’s newest Barbie face Katrina Kaif. Katrina appeared in a golden black sequined Lacoanet Hemant dress spreading the glam effect all around Shah Rukh was formally dresses in a suit while Deepika carried an ash coloured longish gown. Present at the occasion, designer Narendra Kumar achieved his signature semi-formal look, retaining his signature panama hat. Shreyash Talpade, Ritiesh Deshmukh, Atul Kasbekar, Rahul Bose, Angad Bedi, Sahil Shroff, Dino Morea and Rahul Dev to present the awards. Art Alive Gallery will be showcasing a group show – Retrieval Systems – curated by Ranjit Hoskote along with five other contemporary Indian artists. The unique art collections are already on display at Visual Art Gallery from 19th November and will continue till 23rd November. The event will be shifted to Art Alive Galleryon 25th November. ‘Retrieval Systems’ brings together works by five contemporary artists namely,  Alex Fernandes B Manjunath Kamath Baiju Parthan G R Iranna and Tina Bopiah whose approach is based on the secreting of clues and patterns that add up to larger bodies of remembrance.

The title of the exhibition borrowed its name from the information technology and indicates the electronic storage and access devices that extend our memory. Hoskote added, I would use the term retrieval systems to refer, metaphorically, to the archives of memory and reference that sustain the contemporary artistic imagination, which includes mainly the data that flows from the Net, mythology from various cultures, or the repertoires of art history. Among the five artists, Alex Fernandes works in the shifting terrain between portraiture and anthropology which presents a fascinating series of meta-portraits of Tiatristes – the performers who have kept alive one of Goa’s best-loved theatre forms. B Manjunath Kamath’s sculpture-installation and digital composites presents archaeology of family and community memory from history but with his touch of humour. A multi-part photographic installation by Baiju Parthan describes the meditation on an Indo-Iberian monument that encrypts autobiographical resonances and explores the interplay of dream and memory.

G R Iranna contributes three sculptural works to Retrieval Systems a maimed bell, a dissected boat, and a disarranged Buddha, re-configuring mythic resources and inherited symbolisms to interpret the present. The broken Buddha – Peace & Pieces – spreads the message of peace I wanted to convey the message of peace and healing which we people have lost in this world shared G R Iranna. Lastly, Tina Bopiah has placed a suite of paintings which meditate on the gaps and bridges between fantasia and collective self-representation.

Fusion Fashion for Temple of Time

The third & final & the most breathtaking collection were that of drapes. Exquisite bridal-wear saris with floral motifs and petals as if are marking the onset of the mellow spring season. What was your inspiration for such a lovely collection? “For the first one it was the care a damn kind of Indian girl that exudes power to me. The second personifies the character of the modern Indian woman who has adapted to the western lifestyle, yet is deeply rooted to Indian culture and ethos. The drapes are solely inspired from the cuts and silhouettes of the 16th century Indian empresses, they are my attempt to make a bride’s dream come true”, elaborates Archana tirelessly. At the end of it all, Archana had not one but two show stoppers- Geeta wearing a black deep back blouse under a sliver embellished sari and Mahima Choudhry sporting a short black dress and a Georgio Armani Prive.

Armani`s Prive collection at Paris used Rajasthan chic but eschewed the region`s traditional bright hues, models instead emerging on the catwalk in slate, cream, and pearl grey. Skirt suits, cocktail dresses, and evening gowns were restrained, their tapered lines embellished with Taj Mahal-meets-Art Deco jewels and minimal draping around cinched waists; coquettish turbans and berets evoked a feel of 1930s glamor.

Maharaja-style tunics, with folded peplums, in pale gold and grey brocade were worn with skinny trousers, rouched at the ankle. Suits featured jackets embellished with a silver scimitar which formed one side of the lapel and ended in a be-jeweled handle protruding over one shoulder. The scimitar effect was also used on one-shoulder gowns. Though the showing was heavy on daywear, there were some red carpet ensembles, including a full-skirted cream organza gown with a fringed bodice and diamante trim. Elsewhere, Armani integrated elements of his Prive jewellery line, using semi-precious stones to form high collars on the jackets and to embellish the straps of column dresses.

The collection was showcased in of Modern Art, which had been transformed into a semi-circular theatre for 600 guests, and a black PVC catwalk snaked past the guests. Leading the Red Carpet contingent were Oscar-nominee Cate Blanchett (in an Armani trouser suit), Lady Helen Taylor (in a plunging L.B.D., also by Armani), and Katie Holmes (in a one-shouldered chiffon gown in pale tournmaline). Following the show, guests proceeded to dinner where mirrored tables were set amidst mirrored columns. The menu included an entre of creamed cauliflower with crabmeat and caviar, followed by risotto with truffles.

Question by Galaxia: how come there are like no high fashion models with short hair.?
like my dad has this calendar with play boy bunny’s on it lol. some one gave it to him. and the hooter girls, why is it that they all have long hair, none of them have it even above their shoulders. i like long, med. and short hair. all depends on the girls but why is it that short hair has a tough time looking sexy. like the singer rihanna i think pulls it off the most for the celebs now a days.

Answer by jessie lacee
high fashion is like haute couture. hooters girls and play boy bunnies are in no way high fashion. but they are sexy. many people think that a woman’s sex appeal comes in her being feminine. feminine hair is longer and nicer, more well kept than masculine hair. short hair, like what you would see on a guy or on a real high fashion model (Agyness Deyn) is more shocking and masculine, usually high fashion revolves around androgyny and shock and awe.frankly, not many hooters girls and play boy bunnies are seen with short hair because most men don’t find it attractive.

Are Celebrities the New Fashion Designers?

The style of Americans is constantly transitioning. With new designers and upcoming labels being created everyday and multiplying due to more accessible outlets and technology, Americans, now more than ever, have access to multicultural styles from across the nation. Where New York was once thought as the fashion capital of the country, and perhaps even the world, Southern California is gaining more prominence due to Hollywood celebrity influence, completely changing the way Americans gain exposure to the newest trends and fashion.

This has even changed the way designers do business, where once, advertisements and commercials was the most significant way to showcase their threads, a paparazzi photo of Paris Hilton in a certain designer’s clothes can make headlines in the tabloids, and accidentally promote the designer. It is not based so much on news print and media to display these clothes anymore, saving millions of dollars in advertisements, but it is the act of giving away free clothes to celebrities, in hopes that they will to wear their designs on a particular day that they get shot in a paparazzi photo. The whim of Hollywood celebrities now has precedence over choosing the trends of Americans across the nation.

Several Hollywood celebrities including Nicole Richie, Paris Hilton and Gwyneth Paltrow have gone even a step further from showcasing other designer’s lines, into actually starting their own lines. Seeing first handedly of the influence that they have over promoting other designers just by wearing their clothes, has enabled them to envision the great success they potentially could have by creating their own lines. Nicole Richie has already started her own jewelry line named House of Harlow, with aspirations of branching out to clothing, shoes and handbags. Currently, the price of this jewelry line ranges from around to over 0 and is sold exclusively at Kitson, a popular boutique in LA known for its celebrity customers. It is astounding that such accessories made of metal and tin, probably imported from China or India, without any real precious stones or metal can be so pricey. (http://www.shopkitson.com/index.php?pageId=2&manufacturer_name=HOUSE+OF+HARLOW+1960&show=all).

It is also common that many celebrities just lend their names to a brand in order to promote it. Where they may not have any actual say in the result of their products, if the label says Victoria Beckham on it, it will sell out. Take Paris Hilton’s shoe and handbag line for instance. Paris Hilton claims to have no knowledge in designing and sketching. She obviously has no idea how to construct clothing herself, never the less create handbags or shoes, yet her line can be found in Macy’s department stores nationwide. (http://www.theinsider.com/news/642268_Paris_Hilton_Launches_New_Footwear_Line_At_Macys)

Furthermore, one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, Gwyneth Paltrow, has decided to launch her own fashion line for next fall and winter. The line will be named ZOEtee’s Loves Gwyneth and will be a capsule collection for ZOEtee’s, a French fashion house. Paltrow claims that the proceeds of this line will go towards London’s Kids Company, drawing attention towards this charity in assisting children over the UK area.

Where it is common for celebrities to use the attention that they attract to promote their movies, events and clothing lines, it is also an upcoming trend for them to use the attention that they attract to draw awareness to other charities and good causes. Now, with all these various celebrity collaborations teaming up with charities, it is so easy to be fashionable and philanthropic.

Question by Mandy: Why does everyone at my high school calls me a princess because of my sense of fashion ?
I really don’t get it why everyone at my high school calls me a princess when I’m not really one. I’m Asian I’m am Chinese to be exact and my mother recently bought me these beautiful traditional Chinese hair pins from an Chinese clothing store in Atlanta. She bought me 4 of those hair pins and i would normally wear them in my hair and my hair would either be in a chopstick bun or another type of bun hairstyle with like a one string of my hair near my front of my face. I usually wear clothing like colorful or floral dresses and skirts and sometimes i wear a pencil skirt with a button down casual oxford shirt or maybe long skinny jeans with a cute top with a brown sweater with some 5 inch stiletto heels or pumps. I always wear an pair of stiletto heel shoes with my outfits regardless, The shoes i bought are comfy and don’t hurt at all. But sometimes when I’m walking down the hallway people would say “Hey Princess where’s your prince ? “. Sometimes my friends would joke with me and said that I’m the princess of the school when guys tries to flirt with me. People always stare at me when i walk especially at lunch and the whole lunchroom would turn and look at me when I’m getting my lunch. A friend told me that it was my sense of style or something. It makes me feel like I’m a celebrity like Miley Cyrus or something and i don’t like that. How come people referred to me as an princess when I’m really not one ?? Princesses don’t wear those stuff that i wear back then. How come everyone says I’m a princess because of my sense of style ?? Below is what a Chinese hair pin looks like just in case if you don’t know.

Hey guys-Joslyn Davis here with your ClevverTV Fashion Roundup. We’re counting down a few of the hottest looks hitting the streets of Hollywood this week! Up first is Twilight hottie Cam Gigandet- who hit Kitson Kids with his adorable daughter Everleigh Rae and girlfriend Dominique Giel-sen-dorff! We love his casual look: jeans, with a great layered look on top consisting of a black tshirt topped off with an earth-toned button up. The outfit looks amazing with his summer tan and scruffy beard. He’s got the fashionable dad look down to a T! Next is the youngest Kardashian sister-Khloe who looked amazing when she hit the red carpet in Vegas for the premier of her new show “Kourtney and Khloe take Miami.” Khole showed off her hot bod in a purple maxi dress and dressy sandals–which were the perfect look for the daytime event. Her accessories and hair style finished off the look really well. And the pop of color on her nails was a fun little addition. Not bad for a girl who owns a fashion boutique! Well done Khloe! Also looking good this week was the always-fashionable Miss Ashley Tisdale. Ashely rocked it out at the “Donate Life Summer Concert Series,” wearing torn jeans, with boots, a white tank and a vest. A great summer rocker chic look! And as always, her hair and make-up looked amazing also! Last up is our TOP look of the week-it came from actress Jamie Chung-she hit vegas for her fellow “Sorority Row” actress Rumer Willis’ 21st bday-AND she looked amazing. Her off
