And its a shame, because with someone like Will Smith in the role (the director is I Robots Alex Proyas, so they have history) I think I would be looking forward to this spooky sci-fi tale of apocalyptic visions and end-of-the-world predictions. The effects look the part and glimpses of the whisper people are genuinely creepy. When the emergency broadcast kicks in, complete with buzzing siren, you get a real sense that this could be 2009s darkest, broodiest film.
